soon after my nutritional overhaul began a few months' ago, and my kids started to notice what i was eating, i had the following conversation with my youngest daughter in the supermarket as i was looking for the oatmeal:
she: mom, you eat a lot of oatmeal.
me: i know. its my favorite breakfast.
she: lilah eats a lot of oatmeal too.
me: how do you know?
she: she brings it to school for lunch.
me: wow, what a great thing to put in a lunchbox.
she: yeah, lilah comes from the land of oatmeal.
the land of oatmeal.
where everyone is well fueled and can run for hours.
and i guess its good for getting through a day of first grade too.

I wonder if the first grade teacher eats a lot of oatmeal ;)

I be lovin me some oatmeal. Good stuff!!!
YOU ONLY HAVE 11 DAYS UNTIL BQ!!!! Holy cow!!
i live there too.
I'm with you on the oatmeal. Do you like steel-cut or flake? My preferred breakfast before a long run is a bowl of steel-cut oats with a bit of brown sugar and some fruit (banana or perhaps some frozen raspberries or blueberries).
I was thrilled to see Costco was carrying a 4-pack of Bob's Redmill steel-cut oats a couple of months ago. We're almost out, so I went to pick up some more. Of course they no longer are carrying it (ARGH).
steel cut. no sugar! walnuts. and agave nectar.
that's cute!
Gotta love first graders. I teach first grade and no...not a lot of oatmeal here...but my husband does...for cholesterol... :)
