that's all i got right now. come back later. there will be good stuff. i promise. it was not a BQ but it was a PR. and it was the hardest damn course. ever.
Oh bummer, bummer, bummer. But congrats on the PR! I'm looking forward to the full report.
I actually dreamt you BQ'd, but was confused when you had written you finished in just under 4 hours. I knew your time should be 3:45:59 or less, but I didn't have the heart to tell you that. Then I woke up.
While I was searching for your results on the website today, I looked at the course profile and thought to myself, "that is one mother of a hilly course". :-)
I'm telling you, come run with me in May. We're talking downhill. We're talking easy BQ... for you, anyway. :-P
So proud of you, Suzanne. One step at a time. You'll get that BQ.
vegan - am working on glass number 2 right now!! angie - am laughing so hard! just when i'm thinking - i don't need to run anymore marathons any time soon and may even want to try a new sport altogether, you write that & i think ... hmmm. what is she running in may? clearly, i need more wine right now. thanks for your email yesterday!!!
You don't have to run so friggin fast, actually we are coached to walk the uphills :-) oh but we are trekking for a half or a full day -lol but hey it's a good way to bond with our mental side :-)
Look forward to ur report & Congrats on ur PR!
OK now in between the wine keep drinking ur water!
bob - i'm telling you - i had that EXACT thought today ... ultras are looking pretty good - may just ring in my 40th with one this fall. slower pace, and its ok to walk up the hills, in fact - its encouraged, is it not? and thanks for the reminder of h20 between glasses of wine. was mostly just concentrating on the wine!
vickie ... needed 3:45 to run it in 10 weeks, needed 3:50 to run it in 2009 (and for the next 5 years!) ... so i missed 2009 by 7 minutes.
christy - birmingham is beautiful, but it is indeed hilly as all hell! We had a great time there ... brunch at that pancake house on saturday - best breakfast ever, i think .. and dinner at DaVinci's (i think that's what it was called) - delicious spahgetti! and best bagels ever in Crestline Village. you live in a beautiful place!
so cool!! sorry I did not give another update...wanted suz (or auntie zuzu as my boys say) to give it herself! regardless, you kicked butt and as I told you yesterday, by noon you ran a marathon and all we did was eat a pint of ice cream.
Suzanne, again, I'm sorry you missed your BQ, but if I can help you find another race that you can qualify for, I'll let you know. Probably not another one this year. And of course there's still our Grand Rapids Marathon, mid October, on a flat, fast, and BQ course!
DiVinci's is in my little suburb and Crestline Bagel is a regular for me after long runs on Saturday. The Shell gas station right by it is owned by a runner and he puts out coolers 24/7 of water for runners.
Glad you had a good time and sorry you didn't BQ but I am glad the race was better than last time!
That stinks on the BQ but there will more more marathons to come. A HUGE congrats on the PR - that's got to feel good, especially on the mother of a hilly course! I admire your perseverance!!!

Hey, Zanne! I'm so sorry that you didn't BQ. I was a little worried when your sister didn't report again. Boooooooo, hills!
Congrats on your PR, though! That in itself is worth celebrating. I hope you've had a glass of wine or two.

I thought you made it! I guess you're just not old enough yet! You gave it your best shot. Your day will come. Can't wait to read all about it.
Good race and congrats on the PR!
And yes, this place is HILLY! Hope you had a good time here...sorry I didn't get to meet ya!

I'm dead serious. It's a bit of a trip for you (northern Utah) but spring is a lovely time of the year for road trip, don't you think? ;-)
Okay -- top 7 in your age group? That's FABULOUS!
OMG you still rock. but 7 minutes. Now I'm having another glass of wine... (seriously)
Congrats on the PR. I had a look at the course profile on Friday and yeah, it looked very hilly.
As my coach always tells me, all them miles you've done are banked in your legs now. Enjoy your few weeks rest and you'll come back stronger.
I was checking the website like a mad person yesterday for results. Did not want to call and bother you but I was dying to know.
So you had mountains of hills? I am 100% sure that you gave it all you had and more!!!!
Can hardly wait for the FULL report.

dying for the full update!!!
A PR on a hilly course is worth 8 BQ's, at least! Congratulations!
I agree with others that you could *rock* a flat course, no question!

christy - without a doubt, those are the best bagels i have ever had!!!
